Advanced Silk Screen Printing

No current schedule for this year

Course Notes

Join Berkshire Printmakers and get to grips with a squeegee (again). This time it is personal! so bring resource images which inspire you of landscapes, patterns, texts etc. We will take you through how to turn your inspirational pictures into a silkscreen print. You will have the opportunity to make your own semi-permanent image on a screen which can be used during the week to create limited edition prints. We will demonstrate using: screen block, drawing fluid, stencils and resists and we will also show you how to create a reduction print using only one screen. Additionally, you will have the chance to use the Cricut Maker machine to cut text to add to your prints. Throughout the week we will pass on techniques and art tips to make your prints distinctive and original.

As with the beginners' workshop we will bring our large library of plain and patterned screens and opaque, translucent, and metallic inks for you to use. At the end of the week, we crack open packs of plain greeting cards and a selection of papers to give you the opportunity to print on different surfaces and formats. Bring an A3/2 portfolio to keep your prints safe on your journey home.

All essential materials provided, including quality paper, inks, and screens.

Berkshire Printmakers are a husband and wife, they teach silkscreen printing in schools, colleges, art centres and even in festivals. They have over fifteen-years' experience of teaching anyone from 5 years upwards to 90 years how to use a squeegee!
