Course Notes

This course is designed for students who are absolute beginners, having no previous crochet experience. A crochet kit-bag is provided containing all the yarns and accessories needed to complete the course.

With simple daily lessons reinforced by the clear and easy to follow illustrations and pictures in the course companion, crochet basics will be learnt day by day as you work towards making one of five adorable amigurumi pets to take home (crochet kit: Funky monkey, Kevin the Koala, Princess Magnificat, Ophelia the enchanted Unicorn, Darius the Dinosaur, must be selected when booking the course) :

Day 1

- Course welcome

- Introduction to the course

- Having a look at your crochet kit-bag

- Learning how to use your crochet tools: hook, yarn, snippers and course companion

- The Basic Stitches: slip knot, chain stitch, double crochet stitch

- Making a cool bracelet

Day 2

- More stitches; half-treble and treble stitch

- Joining in different coloured yarn, fastening off and sewing pieces together

- Making a crochet flowers brooch

Day 3

- Starting to work on your amigurumi toy

- Main body

Day 4

- Working on your amigurumi toy

- Finishing body and stuffing

- Beginning Arms and Legs

Day 5

- Working on your amigurumi toy

- Finishing Arms & Legs and stuffing

- Making up your amigurumi toy

After completing the course, you will receive a special Marlborough College Summer School, Wiltshire Green Woollies Amigurumi Crochet course certificate to take home with you, along with your crochet-kit bag and finished toy.
