Creative Fun in Textiles
392 TUTOR: Laura Rothenburg
Art Textiles is a great way to be introduced into learning all
about creative techniques to make a fashionable item. Students will learn a
variety of skills and fun processes which will enable them to come out with a
'wacky idea' using their imagination and have a very open mind to developing a
garment ready for a catwalk.
A series of workshops designed to
give students a variety of skills in different techniques and creating
something unfinished and abstract as a fashion garment. We will look at some
designers that create textiles based on colour and layering. This project is
very much about your creativity and how you see design but developing unusual
styles of ideas. I would like to say anything goes, mixing and matching ideas
but also looking at the blends of colour and some 'funky' techniques. By trying out different textile techniques
and working with some unusual materials you will experience many ideas that
will lead to a design. Keep an open mind and keep designing!
