Dear SEC Community,
We hope you have all had an enjoyable and inspirational start to 2019 and are looking forward to the rest of the year to come and, hopefully, a return to the Marlborough College School of English and Culture. With that in mind, we wanted to take this opportunity to update you about our 2019 summer course and to let you know about some exciting new projects that we will be launching this year.
All the module information for this year's Open Minds course is now available online. We will see the return of some familiar faces and will also be welcoming some new staff members onto the Open Minds team. This year all the modules will be exploring ideas connected to the theme of 'Identity' with a characteristic emphasis on creativity and the discovery of new perspectives. To learn more about the modules available, please click here.
This year will also see the launch of four new afternoon courses that have been designed by our highly experienced team of creativity experts. Building on the philosophy behind Open Minds, these courses will inspire self-expression through an immersive programme that may see students creating large-scale land art, beat-making or creating an ensemble performance. More information about all the afternoon activities available in 2019 can be found here.
The Al-Rashid Scholarship for refugee teenagers living in the UK will continue in 2019, following on from its successful launch in 2018. In its inaugural year, the scheme demonstrated to all members of SEC the impactful nature of hearing new and varied perspectives and we are pleased to continue this in the coming year.
Finally, we are pleased to announce that Open Minds is taking its philosophy abroad as part of a new week-long course launching in October 2019 known as Open Minds Experiences. For our first Open Minds Experience, students will be traveling to Aragón, Spain, where they will face an intellectually challenging journey of discovery and adventure as they explore the theme of landscape and perspective within the rugged beauty of the Sierra de Guara mountains. You can watch a short introductory video introducing the course here or for all the information about the course, have a look at the Open Minds Experiences page on our website here.

With very best wishes,
