In December 2017, we initiated what we hope is becoming a new Summer School tradition when we asked our longest serving art tutor, Patricia Saville to design a Christmas Card to send to all our customers and tutors.
This year, it was the turn of Diana Seidl who has been tutoring at Summer School since 1980.
After completing a Fine Arts Degree at Manchester College of Art and Design in the sixties, Diana was subsequently awarded a British Council scholarship to study art in Vienna at the Akademie der Bildenden Kunst. On her return to Manchester, Diana completed a teaching diploma and began a career that she says has been "totally enjoyable and fulfilling".
Her teaching career concluded with 25 years at Pangbourne College. She originally went there to teach 2 days per week to a handful of boys and ended up being Head of the Arts Faculty.
Over the past 38 years, Diana has taught many different kinds of art courses at Marlborough College Summer School, from landscape painting to abstract art and now using the iPad.
Diana's iPad design for this year's card is entitled 'Christmas Rose'. It was inspired by the Legend of Madelon, a young girl that gives a Christmas Rose to the baby Jesus.
