246 TUTOR: Emma Trickett
Dip your toes into the glitz and glamour of the Ballroom! Perfect for Strictly fans, you will learn how to glide across the dance floor to beautiful music. This course is designed for anyone who would like to learn the basics of the timeless Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz. Ballroom dancing is great fun to learn and has the added bonus of subtly improving your posture, co-ordination and balance! Complete beginners, couples and solo dancers of any age are very welcome.
Throughout the week we will explore the music and dances of the beautiful Ballroom dance genre. You will become familiar with the basic figures and feeling of each dance style, from the elegant Waltz to the powerful Tango, the happy Social Foxtrot, the quickety Quickstep, and the beautiful Viennese Waltz.
Each session will start with a gentle warmup, with movements chosen specifically to match those of each dance, followed by a brief history, listening to and understanding the music - and then onto dancing! Emphasis will be placed on improving posture, frame and how to glide through the movements to help you feel elegant and accomplished, while still having lots of fun!
At the end of the week, you will have a brand-new set of skills to show off at a local Tea Dance, Wedding or Special Event! The pace of learning will be tailored to those attending and questions are always welcome!
Please wear shoes with a smooth sole to allow you to turn/swivel - thank you!
Emma's lifelong love of music and movement led her to become a qualified Ballroom & Latin-American Dance Teacher in 2005. She has the best job in the world as she gets to share her love of all things Ballroom while making friends along the way! Emma has performed on stage, has trained for competition, and now has her very own lovely dance school, 'Miss Emma's Dancing', in Wiltshire. Emma's classes are fun and friendly, and you will always be welcome - even if you think you have 2 left feet!
