Circle Dance: Dancing the Circle of Life

No current schedule for this year

Course Notes

The course is suitable for both beginners and those who have already experienced Circle Dance. If you are new to Circle Dance, a sense of rhythm is helpful, but otherwise a willingness to "give it a go" is all you need.

The week's programme will include modern and traditional dances from many different countries. There will always be a variety of pace and style, with some dances having just a few steps whilst others need more learning. Dances will be repeated later in the session or the next day, with everyone's favourite dances included in Friday's programme.

After the first day, subsequent sessions will be carefully planned, with the pace and interests of the group always in mind.

What do dancers love about Circle Dance? "I forget all my day to day worries" "it simply enhances my life" "it's magical - so calming and the music is just beautiful".

In Circle Dance we are mostly dancing joined in a circle. However, if we still need to stay distanced due to Covid-19, I will make sure all the dances I choose are 'Covid-friendly'

I.e.: I will make sure that we can dance safely by keeping the required distance from each other. I will achieve this by choosing appropriate dances where we don't come into close contact, perhaps choreographing or re-choreographing dances as needed.
