Ukulele for Beginners

158 TUTOR: Richard Bending

Here is your chance to learn the basics of ukulele playing. This course is for complete beginners and no knowledge of music notation is required. In an easy-going, relaxed atmosphere, your tutor will demonstrate various techniques including rhythm patterns and chords for accompanying songs in different keys. You will also cover some history of the instrument and see a selection of unusual ukuleles dating from the early 1900s onwards. You will receive a ukulele, which is yours to keep, as well as chord and song sheets. By the end of the course, you will be able to accompany vocals and play a selection of rhythms and songs. There will also be a chance to show off your new skills in a short public performance on the last day. Come along and have a good time while you learn.

Course Notes

A good quality ukulele will be provided which is yours to keep, as well as chord and song sheets. By the end of the course, you will be able to accompany vocals and play a selection of rhythms and songs.

There will be a chance, if you wish, to show your new skills in a short public performance on the last day. Come along and have a good time while you learn!

Ukuleles will be 'Concert' size - with a slightly longer scale length, which makes playing chords easier than the standard 'Soprano' size.
