Appreciate and Write Contemporary Poetry

No current schedule for this year

Course Notes

The primary aim of the course is to introduce students to contemporary poetry, and inspire them to write their own poems.

Each day you will examine a different theme or subject and explore various techniques. Triggers, exercises and free-writing will be used to encourage the imagination. You will also read and discuss a number of poems to stimulate ideas.

You will be able to share your poems within the class, and have a chance to comment on each other's work in a supportive and safe environment. Advice on editing will be given, together with methods that can be used to critique poetry.

Please bring a notepad (A4 suggested).
