This course has been devised in response
to those of you who have already attended at least one of my Creative Writing
courses, enjoyed it and asked for more, although
newcomers who are writing for the first time are welcome and will also find the
week enjoyable.
This time, there will be new and
challenging exercises, some repeats with a different slant, using a range of
stimuli such as pictures, extracts from great writers, and amusing anecdotes
taken from life to mould into fiction. The aim is to inspire you to write,
short stories, journalistic and autobiographical pieces, drama and even poetry..
Learn the difference between a memoir and an autobiography, and discover ways
of gathering material, structuring a story, and improving your style. You will
enjoy receiving and giving constructive criticism whilst sharing your work
- this is not compulsory - although
people rarely opt out - and by the end of the week you will have achieved a
varied portfolio to share with family and friends.
The process of writing will help you with
memory and confidence and give you a hobby for life which requires little
outlay.
All you need is an open mind, a desire to
write and something to write on.
You can choose to write with pen and
paper, a laptop or tablet - all our equally acceptable.
If you have never done any creative
writing before, do not be daunted. The emphasis is on having fun and as stated
above, newcomers are welcome.
