This is a course for those who are already
familiar with birth, marriage and death certificates, census returns and parish
registers and want to learn about other records that will allow them to delve
deeper into the lives of their ancestors with the assistance of an experienced
family history researcher. This course can be tailored to meet your own particular
research needs. Topics may include divorce, wills, educational records,
migration, military records, The Poor Law records, crime and punishment,
apprenticeships and occupational records. There will also be the opportunity to
learn about, and experience, family history related websites.

About Michelle
Michelle has been researching family history for 30 years and
during that time has amassed a great deal of experience and knowledge. She has
assisted many others with their own research and provided a family history
research service to Australians with English & Welsh ancestry. Prior to
moving to Marlborough she taught family history for Northamptonshire County
Council Adult Learning Service. She is
currently teaching Family History at New College, Swindon. She is enthusiastic
in her approach to the subject and believes in allowing students to learn
whilst doing. She loves the challenge of finding those ancestors who prove
difficult to track down.
