Come on board and discover the beauty of the
Italian language and aspects of Italy's rich culture. This course is designed
for complete beginners and those with some experience of the language. Each
day, you will cover a different topic with related vocabulary and simple
grammatical structures. Emphasis is put on conversation in Italian and the
discovery of aspects of the Italian culture and its cities.

Topics within the two and half hour sessions
include Personal information and Greetings; Directions and Travelling (hiring a
car, travelling by train, by bus); Booking into a hotel; A day at the market
and Eating out (restaurant, small bites and drinks).
From the flea market of Porta Portese in Rome
and other important open markets to some of the greatest fashion houses of
Milan, the course brings you both lesser known cities (Tiscali, I Sassi di
Matera..) and cultural highlights of this fine and varied country (Verona and
Costa Smeralda) plus how to converse the Italian way with gestures!
Sessions are fun, relaxed and filled with
role-plays that gently introduce you to the language. The cultural topics are supported by an array
of visual and musical materials. In addition, the vocabulary of this cultural
section is extended by resources to practise with your family!

About Alessandra
Alessandra
has a very high reputation across the region as one of our top linguists
and Italian tutors. Alessandra has been a valued tutor at our Marlborough
College Summer School for over 10 years in succession. She enjoys Chartered
Linguist status with Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and also works for
the prestigious Oxford University. She is a tutor for the UK Defence Academy in
Shrivenham and an examiner for the Ministry of Defence.
Alessandra
founded the Italian Experience Cotswold in 2017 and this company now runs
courses in Italian all year round and for participants across the UK. Her courses
at the Summer School are frequently sold out and this year -for the first time-
the Summer School boasts a week for advanced level students
Alessandra
has taught for 23years in the UK at all levels, from beginners to
advanced. When working for colleges in Wiltshire, Alessandra's students often
achieved top 5 marks in the UK at GCSE and Advanced Level. She has
assisted in the editing of text books for Oxford University Press (for the
international market) and updates her training and linguistic practice at the
highly regarded DILIT International School in Rome.
