1. What to wear
Wear comfortable clothing,
preferably cotton. You just need loose or stretchable clothing such as shorts, tights, leggings,
leotards, etc…
Yoga is practised bare foot
2. What to bring
We
will use different props according to your body structure and requirements. For
instance we will use chairs, straps, blocks, bolsters, blankets. If you do not
have any of the following props, be creative and improvise. For instance a
scarf can replace a strap, folded blankets (providing they are firm) or
cushions make excellent substitutes for a bolster…
- a yoga mat (make sure that
it is non-slip)
- warm clothes for relaxation
(socks, sweatshirt…)
- 2 small blankets to use in
some postures and another blanket for relaxation
- 4 blocks
- a strap
- a bolster
Marlborough Summer School will be able
to provide you with mats, blocks and straps if you do not have any.
3. Practice
- Previous experience is not
essential
- Instruction in Yoga for
Mobility will include postures, breathing, concentration, relaxation. Postures will mainly be static

synchronized with breathing.

slowly and gently to avoid stress
- Breathing should be
continuous and not forced
- Do not compete with
yourself or anybody else
- Listen to your body: be
aware of your daily changes in abilities

What are your
expectations from this yoga course?
It
is advised that a "sticky” yoga mat be used during this course. These are not
standard exercise mats, but are rubber based, stick to the floor and prevent
your feet slipping, ensuring your safety. Marlborough Summer School may be able
to provide a few mats but please bring your own yoga mat if you have one.
