Silver Jewellery
79 TUTOR: Fiona Dowling (BA Edinburgh College of Art, Masters from Royal College of Art)
Learn
how to saw, solder, hand-stamp, file and finish your own silver jewellery. On
each of the first four days, you will create a piece of silver jewellery to
take home under the expert guidance of your qualified tutor. These will include
a personalised handstamped silver ring, a silver bangle, a pair of earrings and
a pendant with a bezel stone setting. On the final day, you will have the
opportunity to finish any pieces needing further work. This course is suitable
for both beginners and those with a little experience of silversmithing.

All
materials and equipment will be provided.
For
safety reasons students are asked to keep long hair tied back and closed shoes
should be worn. As the course will
involve close up jewellery techniques, participants are asked to bring glasses where
applicable.
Course Structure
Monday
- construction of a Silver Ring, which can be hand-stamped and personalized on
the inside
Tuesday
- construction of two hammered silver bangles
Wednesday
- construction of a pair of silver earrings
Thursday
- creation of a basic bezel setting to wear as a pendant
Friday
- Finishing of past four days work

About Fiona
Fiona has a BA (with first class honours)
from Edinburgh College of Art and a MA in Jewellery and Silversmithing from the
prestigious Royal College of Art, London.After graduating Fiona worked in London as a designer, produced her own
work for various galleries and exhibitions before founding her own company
'Jewellery Moves', running pop up workshops all over the south of England.
