Silver Jewellery for Improvers

43 TUTOR: Fiona Dowling (BA Edinburgh College of Art Masters from Royal College of Art)

This improvers' course is suitable for those who have already completed the beginners' course or who have some experience of jewellery and silversmithing. In the first two days you will expand your knowledge by learning techniques such as granulation, roll pressing textures into metal, tube setting and the creation of a spinner ring, with the option to work in yellow gold at an additional cost. The last three days you will be free to design and create your own designs under the watchful eye of your qualified tutor. Basic materials and the silver for the first two days are included in the course price. Further metal can be purchased and ordered from the tutor.

Course Notes

Each student will be allocated a set amount of silver with the option to order more metal (at their own cost) for any designs they create in the last two days.

For safety reasons students are asked to keep long hair tied back and closed shoes should be worn. As the course will involve close up Jewellery techniques, participants are asked to bring glasses where applicable.
