Being a new tutor to Marlborough College Summer School, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. Born and brought up on the Isles of Scilly, I graduated from Birmingham University with an M.A. in medieval studies. I spent a few years abroad teaching and training before returning to Devon to lecture in Further and Higher education. I now work on my own, lecturing for NADFAS (National Association of Decorative and Fine Arts)/ The Arts Society and other organisations, running study breaks in history at Dillington House in Somerset for over 20 years and Buckfast Abbey in Devon.
My main interests have always been in the medieval period of English history. I have designed my two new courses for Marlborough College Summer School, 'Before the Normans Came' and '1066 and All That' to run in tandem but also to stand alone. These are both remarkable periods, dynamic in personalities, politics and culture. The aim of both courses is to reconstruct and interpret these periods in a way that is interesting, thought provoking and enjoyable. Prior knowledge is not a requirement.
I look forward to meeting you at Summer School.
